This year's Newent Onion Fayre 2008 will be opened by Anna Brees from ITV1s Central News. The fun starts at 10.30am on Saturday 13th September and will run throughout the whole day with fun, laughter, live music and dance, plus over 100 stands, features and fairground rides, plus the ever popular Onion Show itself!

Music this year will come from Al Boden and the Organic Hillbillies, Mart Conner and the Carrot Crunchers, Electric Fred, Banshee and not forgetting the ever popular Bubonic Wind Band. The popular Glebe Chapel Choir will perform in the Good News Centre gardens at lunchtime and dancing groups will fill the streets at various times throughout the day.

This year we are seeing even more local food and drink from the area, something that is making Newent stand out and attracting more people to the town, plus arts and crafts of all descriptions. Street musicians, children's entertainers and the fairground stalls will fill the streets and the display of wedding dresses will be on display in St Mary's Church accompanied by a special tribute to Willium, Newent's late Town Crier. The Lake will play host to a display of model boats and the Youth Angling Project's ever popular fishing experience.

The town’s regeneration is in an advanced state with Falcon Court in the town centre and the all new McCarthy and Stone’s Daffodil Court virtually complete. The town can now stand proud, decorated with its award winning floral displays making it one of the most attractive small towns in the county. The organisers estimate that this years event will raise another record amount of funds which will be used to see The Onion Fayre's continued success each year.

Newent is signposted from the M50, A40, Ledbury and the Forest of Dean. This year major road works are being undertaken at the A40 near Gloucester & Highnam causing severe delays. If possible if travelling from the east, head for Ledbury and approach the town from the north. Coach and car parking is available. Arrive early - we are expecting record crowds this year!
